She was an actress and composer, known for Transamerica (2005), Sarafina! (1992) and Bobby (2006). She was married to Stokely Carmichael, Hugh Masekela and Sonny Pilay. She died on 10 November 2008 in Castel Volturno, Campania, Italy.
